WHAT’S HAPPENING? WHAT DO I DO? THE HRT OPTION This section is for women who are taking estrogen or seriously considering it and want to know the pros and cons of the many different forms. The bad news is that the great variety can be confusing. The good news is that because there are many different preparations, if you want HRT there is almost certain to be one which agrees with you. This section is a brief guide to the different forms. Progesterone or a form of it is given as part of HRT to protect the endometrium (lining of the uterus) from over stimulation by estrogen. This over stimulation can lead to cancer but this does not occur if adequate progesterone is taken. What is Menopause? |
