Q:  I have a lot of the symptoms associated with hormone problems so I have been doing research. I was wondering if you have ever heard of Post Tubal Syndrome? If you have do you believe it could be a true affliction or if you haven't heard of it do you think it could be possible that having your tubes tied could result in hormone problems?

A: Many women have tubal ligations and, unfortunately, many have hormone problems. So I think it is usually coincidence. There can be complications from any operation but these are rare after tubal ligation. For women having hormone problems after having their tubes tied, it may be more helpful to look for another cause. Having tubes tied does not generally cause hormone problems but it does not protect against them either.
