Q:  I'm 53 years old and I am in menopause. I have skipped 8 periods and do not get hot flashes or night sweats., however I do get bladder infections almost every month. What can I do about that. I use vagifem twice a week and it worked for awhile. Now it seems I'm back to square one again. The vagifem doesn't seem to be working. Do you have any suggestions?

A:  I suggest that you be worked up for your bladder infections. Estrogen generally does not prevent them so you need to find out why you are getting them, if possible, and a way to prevent and/or treat them. So I suggest you consult a knowledgeable physician, probably a urogynecologist at a large center.
